History
The company was established at the end of the 1940’s by Heikki Friman, the uncle of the current owners. That period in Finland was characterized by a strong spirit of enterprise, but there was a great lack of raw materials and other necessities for production.
Heikki Friman began to import materials and other needed components into the country for the manufacture of carrying bags, at first to meet the needs of his own company, but he soon found himself selling them to other manufacturers. In time, he stopped his own production and began to cater to the bag industry in Finland.
The business primarily only served companies supplying the needs of the bag industry for a few decades, until Hannu and Teuvo Friman bought the wholesale business, premises and operations from their uncle, Heikki Friman, in 1987. After this purchase, many changes were made in the company. There were
radical changes in product selections and the company began serving new
target groups. Once Finland joined the EU, it became necessary to find
new countries to produce the products, since the former countries lost
their status as developing countries.
One thing that will remain the same in our company, is that we will
continue to maintain a vast full stock of products. The strength of our
company lies in the fact that all of the products we sell are always in
stock for immediate delivery at an economic price. Tarvike Friman Oy will be developing with the times, providing its new
and former customers with extensive fresh selections of materials and
needed components.
